Ashford Oval – Plettenberg Bay

We will arrange to have the gate opened from 08:00 to meet and go through the formalities. The walk will start at 08:30. Depending on the numbers, we will set up groups with different leaders. The walk should take about one and a half hours and will include a stroll along their forested area, the dam and if time permits, a walk in the grasslands. (Please note, there has been some flood damage to their forest walk, but we will make the best of what is available!)

The walk will be followed by a “bring your own” picnic, however, coffee / tea will be available at the Pavilion after the walk

At this stage the weather for the 22nd looks reasonable but cool. (Partly cloudy with a max of 17C). As we know things can and will change, come prepared – it will be cool and probably a little damp.

Remember to bring binoculars, cameras, hats, sun cream, a light jacket and a comfortable pair of walking shoes. (At this time of the year, there is a lot of moisture in the mornings so if possible, bring a pair of waterproof walking shoes.)

Directions:

For those who have not visited the farm before, drive out from Plett to the airport. The farm is just opposite the airport turn off on the right-hand side of the road. We will have some committee members at the entrance to direct you and will display the bird club banner at the entrance.
